Learning how to sew can be overwhelming at best. I learned the basics in grade school, and sewed up a few things at home with my mom, but I didn’t learn how to really sew until about 4 years ago.
I self taught through blogs, tutorials, and Pinterest boards! I spent a lot of time searching, reading, buying books, and learning. There was a lot of trial and error. A lot of error…..
My goal is to help you get past those difficult first stitches as gracefully and error free as I can! There will be mistakes, tangled thread, broken needles, and head scratching, but with a bit of patience, you’ll be able to create useful items for you and your family!
Below, you’ll find 5 of my favourite beginner projects.
Amber at Crazy Little Projects taught me to make this useful Chapstick keychain!
A new pillow cover from tutorial craftaholics anonymous is an easy way to add a bit of pop to your family room.
Love 2 Create has a great tutorial on making a coffe cup cozy! She used a Starbucks coffee sleeve, I used Tim Hortons 😉
Purl Soho has a great 20 min tote bag! Don’t worry if it takes you longer than 20 min, once you get practice, it definitely will take 20min (or less)
Now this one from Flamingo Toes might be a little intimidating at first. But trust me. Follow the directions, and you’ll end up with a cute skirt you made yourself!
Until next time.
